About Dr Khatri
Dr Shailesh Khatri is one of Australia's most experienced senior interventional cardiologists. Originally from Fiji, he arrived in Australia in 1983, completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland in 1990, and undertook cardiology training at the Royal Brisbane, Prince Charles and John Hunter Hospitals.
In 2001, he completed a prestigious Fellowship at St. Paul's Hospital, Vancouver, Canada — under Professor John Webb, one of the world's most respected interventional cardiologists — performing over 1,200 procedures. This international training underpins every procedure Dr Khatri performs today.
He is an Adjunct Professor at Bond University and pioneered the Primary PCI service at Tweed Hospital over 20 years ago, extending life-saving emergency cardiac care to uninsured patients from NSW's Northern Rivers region.
